Thanks for visiting. On this site you can check out songs from my two CD's: Simon Leahy's Daughter (2006) and Time Again (2013). A life science marketing professional by day, I've had a passion for music and playing the guitar since I was very young. After much soul searching through my late teens and early twenties, I started writing songs as a way of expressing myself artistically and philosophically. I grew up on classic rock with my all time favorite bands being Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, though I appreciate and respect great music from every genre and have always been especially inspired by artists like John Lennon, Bob Marley, Johnny Clegg, Public Enemy, Rage Against The Machine and others who try and influence positive change through their music. The combination of meaningful lyrics with awesome rhythm's and melodies is what inspires me the most, and it's what I strive to achieve through my own songwriting. Artistic expression is the oldest and most universal form of human communication. When you think about it, art transcends every language, religion and cultural boundary, and artists have always played an important role in conveying new ideas, bridging barriers and helping societies evolve and change over time. Creative works beget new creative works that reflect the knowledge, aesthetics and controversies of the time in which they originate, and speak to the future in ways that can be profoundly inspirational and trans-formative. This is not to say I have any illusions of changing the world. I do not. But I do believe every individual can make a difference, and that when you have a particular talent and/or passion, it's kind of the Universes way of saying, hey, you should be doing more of this. I don't want to look back with regret not having done so when I could, so I am resolved to continue playing my guitar, writing and recording my songs, and sharing my art for as long as I can. And if I can inspire others now or in the future to follow their heart and passion, to contribute in their own way and try and make a difference in whatever way they can, then all the better. Sign my guestbook if you'd like to share any comments or would like to learn about any upcoming shows, and thanks again for visiting. Sincerely, -Joe Fredette
